Description
Also known as hematopoietin or hemopoietin, EPO is produced by interstitial fibroblasts in the kidney in close association with peritubular capillary and tubular epithelial tubule. It is also produced in perisinusoidal cells in the liver. While liver production predominates in the fetal and perinatal period, renal production is predominant during adulthood. In addition to erythropoiesis, erythropoietin also has other known biological functions. For example, it plays an important role in the brain's response to neuronal injury. EPO is also involved in the wound healing process.
Erythropoietin (EPO) is a hormone produced by the kidney that promotes the formation of red blood cells by the bone marrow. The kidney cells that make erythropoietin are sensitive to low oxygen levels in the blood that travels through the kidney. These cells make and release erythropoietin when the oxygen level is too low. A low oxygen level may indicate a diminished number of red blood cells (anemia), or hemoglobin molecules that carry oxygen
Applications
Erythropoietin (EPO) is a hormone produced by the kidney.
Erythropoietin promotes the formation of red blood cells by the bone marrow.
The erythropoietin hormone level can be detected and measured in the blood (the EPO test).
Measurement of the blood erythropoietin level can be used to detect certain medical conditions.
Erythropoietin can be synthesized and used as a treatment of some forms of anemia.
Erythropoietin has been misused as a performance-enhancing drug by some athletes.
How to use?
These are the typical hGH doses that people use:
Anti-Aging: 2iu-4iu daily
Fat loss: 4iu-8iu daily
Muscle building: 8iu-24iu daily
* Most people follow one of the following protocols:
- Every day injections
- Every day injections, with 2 days off every 6th day (a.k.a. 5 days on, 2 days off)
- Alternate day injections - In this manner the dose taken every other day is double that of the ""Every day injection"" protocol.
Side Effects
The most common side effects of EPO are relatively mild and include cough, headaches, joint and muscle pain and/or spasms, pain or redness at the injection sit, stomach discomfort, vomiting, trouble sleeping and weight loss. If these symptoms persist or become bothersome, contact your doctor.
